The sound matter of Villa Ficana

On the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the birth of Villa Ficana – 1862/2022 – the ecomuseum celebrates with a series of events scheduled for 21 and 22 May.

In the workshop 𝐋𝐀 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐀 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐀 𝐃𝐈 𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐀 𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐀 the participants, under the guidance of the musician and music therapist Samuele Rosetti, will create a sound itinerary along the streets of the village.

The workshop will be divided into two parts:

• 𝟖 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐨 – online meeting: approach to sound ecologies and sound art, preparatory to the subsequent workshop phase.

• 𝟐𝟏 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐨 – face-to-face meeting at the Villa Ficana ecomuseum and creation of the sound path through the following activities:

– Analysis of the sound space: identification of the indicators to compose with the space;
– Sound system of materials from the history and memory of the place;
– Creation of a sound path starting from the acoustic characteristics of the architecture of the village;
– Recording of the various interventions and creation of a sound map of the event.

Participants will be invited to explore the sounds of the materials of which the village is composed (earth, fire, water, dry leaves) and, through the sound element, they will try to discover and enhance the acoustic characteristics of the territory, in order to imagine stories and traditions.

Participation in both phases of the workshop is recommended.

A contribution of 8 euros per person is required for the workshop on 21 May.

In case of bad weather or failure to reach the minimum number of participants, the event on May 21 will be postponed.
